Mill House Hotel is a quiet and intimate wedding venue with high ceilings and large spacious reception rooms, based in Swallowfield Reading. It’s tricky to find from the road, as I found myself driving straight past it three times before finally discovering it had been hiding in plain sight.

The Mill House Hotel is set amidst pretty and established, landscaped gardens nestled beside the river Loddon in the Berkshire countryside, in the village of Swallowfield, not far from Reading. The venue itself is a Georgian house set back from the main road, the interior is intimate in it’s feel, but rooms are of larger proportions than you’d imagine. Wedding couples are able to stay in the hotel itself, which has 12 ensuites bedrooms. One of which could be used as the bridal suite – it contains a luxurious 4 poster bed which is perfect for the bridal parties getting ready photography. The room is perfect for my style of photography. The is a garden restaurant, and a marquee to the rear of the garden for the wedding breakfast.

Marquees can be uninspiring from a wedding photography point of view, but Mill House Hotel really push the boat out in terms of marquee dressing. The marquee feels intimate and cosy, and well thought out.
